First thing's first - I'm working on a redesign of the site. It's not going as quickly as I'd like it to go however. I'm also working on getting some pics of the new car up. I was going to take them after the first race, but unfortunately we got wrecked out and didn't finish. We did get fourth in the heat though (Note: this was the April 16th race).

We did much better on April 30th, the second race of the season. A 2nd in Heat B and a second in the Main Event. I have to say that the ISSRA (aka Super Stock) Main Event was the most exciting main event that night. Close, clean and competitive racing. Just the way we like it.

Oh, and yes - 2nd means first loser. We will do better.

We're getting used to the quirks of the new car, and we should be something to contend with for this season.

Well, I suck. Just now getting this updated with the end of season stuff. Basically we rock. After all the bad luck (yes, I do believe you need luck, some things just aren't under your control) we ended up finishing 8th in points. Way damn cool I think. I'll be posting more soon with a summary of the season and also be putting more pictures up. Stay tuned and if you're local - see ya at the banquet!

Oh, ya - I know the rest of the site is a mess. I'm working on a redesign.

So where the hell have ya been, you ask? Well, we've been working on the car.... Specifically, we've been working on the engine, tearing it down because it needed balanced worse than we thought, putting it back together, etc. It was not all in vain, my dear reader. We ended up finishing 5th in the Main at Meridian Speedway last Saturday which amazingly put us 9th in points there. Considering we started on the pole (crappy time-in, but hey...what do you expect when we haven't been on the track in forever) you might think that sucks. Actually, it was pretty good as bad as the car ended up being towed out and the hella push that it had. It's time for some new bushings and we're good to go for the last two races of the season. Here's an update for ya, oh loyal Murri Racing minions of mayhem... We finally were able to get the car out on 5/22/04 for the third Super Stock race a Meridian Speedway. Unfortunately, being the first race and having not had the car on the track at all, we had a few kinks here in there. We were plagued by an oil leak originating from the right side of the oil pan (ripped cork gasket), and smoked like a chimney as the oil dripped onto the exhaust. We didn't time in well, started in the front and won the heat race. Ten laps into the main our jury rig of the oil pan gasket gave way (there was no way we could diaper it without catching the diaper on fire with it being so close to the exhaust) and Scott just brought the poor thing in. Being the "glass is half full" team that we are, *grin*, we're putting this first race down as a "work the kinks out" race and are ready for Memorial Day. Be there or be square.

The race dates for our class at Meridian Speedway for 2004 are up. Looks like 13 races there. I need to go through the Chaparral Speedway schedule and I'll get those dates posted too. Oh, our class name changed too. We're now Super Stocks.

So here's the dates: 4/17, 5/1, 5/22, 5/31, 6/12, 6/26, 7/3, 7/10, 7/17, 8/7, 8/14, 9/11 and 9/25.

Well, where do I start? The last race at Chaparral we blew a big hole in the oil pan during practice. Needless to say...that sucked. Because of that we didn't get to race the last race at Meridian. We took 8th in points for the season at Meridian Speedway. That's up from 11th last year. With two DNFs and one race that we missed entirely I'm thinking that totally kicks ass.

So what's up for next year? We've bought a new engine (new for us, used and not brand new though) and are proceeding to tear it down. We're also looking for a car to strip down so we can re-skin #56. There's only so much you can do. :-)

Ok, I've been slacking on the updates. At least we do update our page though unlike some folks. ;-)

We broke an axle last night...We did win the trophy dash though, so now I've got a trophy sitting her at Murri Racing Web Central. We are a two person team and it meant a lot for Scott to let me house the trophy over here. Don't doubt our commitment. Two people making it to every race we can and doing our best. It doesn't pay to even get discouraged anymore.
We missed the last Chaparral race, but at Meridian on July 28 we got 5th in the Main and won the Heat Race. This helped us out quite a bit in the points. Unfortunately last night (August 10th) we broke an axle in the main.

I have no idea right now where we are in the points at Meridian. Last night didn't help, that's for sure. I'll update as soon as I know.

Well, well. From out of the pits of hell, what do we come up with, but a 1st place at Meridian on June 28th! The evening started out "alright", with us timing in about where we normally do, but quite aways behind the rest of the folks. This was with two new tires, no less! After some digging around, we noticed a problem with the way we had the air cleaner on, and once that was fixed, old red was a screaming machine. We mentioned the problem we'd had with the air cleaner (to be honest, the bottom piece was on backwards, so we we had about 100 times more choke than there should've been) to the officials, our class rep and a couple of drivers. Everybody knew we hadn't been sandbagging, otherwise we'd have ended up scratch, but we did feel like the car shouldn't be starting at the pole. It was too good for that. In the end they left us where we were (one comment was "hey, that's why you get to work on the car, to fix problems you find") and Scott drove great. Really. It was a great race. We finished 1st in the B Heat race, and won the Main. Per the Meridian Speedway press release, "Scott Murri lead the Limited Stocks for the entire 50 lap main event. He held off late challenges by Dave Doan and Kevin Zimmer. This race almost went 50 laps caution free, but on lap 46 someone made contact with Charlie Stout sending him into the infield. Charlie quickly recovered and returned to the track. However the dust cloud that covered the back stretch caused the officials to throw the yellow flag." One thing it doesn't mention is that Michelle Meads gave us a run for the money the first 10 laps or so and raced really clean. Her and numerous other drivers came up to congratulate Scott afterwards. The Ltd Stock drivers in the valley really are a class act. This race was easily one of the most exciting races I've seen at Meridian, though not as dramatic as the sprints that night, where it looked like everybody was out to kill themselves.

I've updated the results page. The win bumped us up nicely in the points at Meridian. With another new tire we'll have for this Saturday, we should do pretty good. The two new ones last race surely had an effect on how the car was handling.

Ok... Haven't updated for awhile. I'm working on getting more pictures up. We broke an axle at our first Chaparral race on May 25th and still ended up taking 9th. Go figure. Then the only race that I've missed so far this year is the first race ever that we've made it to the trophy dash at Meridian Speedway. Again...go figure! ...and no, I'm not unlucky. We have no idea what we placed on June 7th (Meridian doesn't put the the whole list up like Chaparral, just like the top 3 *frown*).

Anyway, we don't know where we are in the standings at Chaparral since they haven't updated it since May 19, but at Meridian we're currently 10th. The strong finish (and actually finishing) got us in the top ten. Very cool. The newly balanced engine is running good, and if we can figure out how to do well on the outside at Meridian we'll be golden. Chaparral is another story. We don't have any idea how to set the car up there quite yet...

All in all, we're back in the game. :-)

*sigh* Pray for rain this weekend. It's just wacky what a cluster it's been trying to get the engine back together, but I won't name the parts folks and engine folks involved. I'm reservering judgement until Monday. If Saturday doesn't get rained out, please don't lose any sleep...we'll be back.

First things, first... Never, ever, ever will I put any music or sound effects on this site. You racers that have them (you know who you are!) need to knock that off. It's just stupid.

Anyway, how are we doing? To be frank, crappy. We had problems with freeze plugs blowing and other assorted weirdness at the Meridian Speedway opener on April 12th. Basically it sucked, and we didn't finish the heat or the main. So the second race of the season on April 26th had to be better, right? Kind of. The car ran great and was handling well. Scott managed to pull it together after almost losing it in the Heat Race to pull off first place in the B main. Unfortunately on lap 30 of the 35 lap main the motor went to pot and I talked Scott into going back out (we're going to finish *&#&%!!!!). Needless to say the hamster finally gave up the ghost, I ordered some bearings tonight and we didn't finish.

I'm feeling better and better with each race. Even when we do crappy. We will win. We will do it fairly and without cheating. Period. I'm confident and Scott's turning into one hell of a driver. Watch out folks. Especially all of you that seem to have the bucks to paint your car up pretty, etc. We'll see if we can't pinstripe you with some red.

Revamped the web page a bit so it doesn't look like some junior high school dude who learned from a blind no-talent hack teacher by playing with Geocities sites did it (not that it looks any better, but at least it doesn't look like that!). The new logo is up to the left. It's the one we had on our shirts near the end of the 2002 season and will have again on all our promo items (if we have any other than shirts to pimp the sponsors) again this year.

Sounds like there's quite a bit of uncertainty as to how racing will transpire here in our area and at our home track. I did get our final results up. You can find them here. I'm also working furiously on getting some more pictures up. As always, go buy early and buy often from our sponsors.

Well, yuck. The last race of the season isn't supposed to end with the car getting all torn up. Needless to say, however, it did get just that....torn up. I'll have pictures up of the crnage and have a lot more to say. It's all good in the end (other than the car getting torn to shreads) though. We've ended up finishing 9th out of 25 total cars racing in the Limited Stock class for the 2002 season (our best season finish ever). Despite some folks trying to mutilate the car we finished. Some guys that were helping in the pits didn't even think we'd get the car back out the second time. No way! We'd came too far not to finish. We owed it to the sponsors, and we owed it to ourselves. We could've done better this last race of the season. I (this is Jeff typing this as always) made a bad call and we went into the pits when we could've possibly fixed the car on the track, but damn it, we finished the race. Enough said for now. *grin* I'll have lots more up on the site this week as time permits including, as I mentioned above, pictures of the carnage and other tidbits.

Kinda sad. Only one more race left. :-( It seems like this year's really blown by quick. I'm really proud of our team though and especially Scott. If the season ended today we'd still have our best finish "points wise" ever. The car's getting tired though. The race on the 2nd proved that for us. The front-end's getting pretty loose and...well, one more race and then we've got all winter to get him ship-shape.
So onto the results from Sept. 2nd. We timed in right with the rest of the pack. With 100th's of a second separating most drivers, I'm still amazed at how competitive the class is. We got 3rd in the heat race, and got 8th in the Main. At first that seems pretty cruddy, but the car just wasn't handling well at all. Our tires are getting worn and the car's getting tired. Hey, no excuses. I was hoping we'd be able to make it up to 8th place with this race, but instead we just closed the gap some more. The last race on the September 21 is going to be an exciting one! Well, ya got to take the good with the bad. We got last in the heat and 6th in the main. Scott could've dogged it and probably taken 3rd, but decided to actually get on the outside line and try to pass #22. Unfortunately the hind-end got bumped then, and there was some spinning action... We managed to hang on and not go down any laps, etc. Right now I'm not sure where we'll be in the points. I'll update the How We're Doing page as soon as WIRA gets the points updated.

Two races to go. Things are heating up.

Wake up the kids, you won't want 'em to miss this! 1st in the heat race and 1st in the main event. Two big ass trophies - life is good.

Scott did it all by himself too. The marketing whore/pit guy (that's me, btw) was out of town at a wedding and everybody else flaked. There's really nothing more to say. Scott would have everybody believe that because he didn't win under green that it doesn't count as much. BS. :-)

Hmm. A little late updating the site. And here we are thinking we're cooler than some of the other teams cuz we actually keep our site current... Anyway, all I can say is we did pretty good. We had Terry The Terminator onsite for this race. Between him and the fabulous racer they managed to get the car setup to where I think we want to try and keep it for the rest of the year. Maybe some air pressure adjustments, but overall the car was handling well. There's still a few cars that seem to have more juice than we do, but this soon will pass. I don't even remember what we took in the heat race, but we managed to finish a respectable 4th in the main. I was hoping for a top 5 finish and we beat that by one. A few more good finishes and we'll manage to crawl ourselves back up into the middle of the points race.

The big news? Scott signed his first breast. Well, his first female breast anyway. He's finally hitting the bigtime. Where we are in the points can be seen here.

First of all...Oh my goodness it was hot. I had to jump in the canal at one point to stay cool. We placed 5th in the heat race after a "not to be mentioned" driver decided to pretend he was driving a 4-wheel drive, plow through the infield and spin us out. Thanks there dude (you know who you are, but will probably never make it to this site to read this *sigh*). I think that was the only time I've ever gotten pissed off by the idiocy of a driver. I really thought all of our class was better than that. Anyway, old #56 didn't like the outside line, and we got loose and lost a lot of track position in the main while trying to pass so finished 9th out of 14. All I can say (and I'm not tooting our own horn here) is that Scott drove one hell of a race for us to finish both the heat and the main without losing it completely... or taking out any other cars. We may be 10th in points, but we're sure as hell getting better. Scott could've just hung out and took 3rd more than likely, but instead he got his butt out there and raced. Enough said.

Gosh, where to begin. We had a DNS for our heat race, and finished 15th (there were three cars behind us though!!) in the main. We didn't time-in last. That's one of the only positives. It just wasn't a good day and was even worse than the last race. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong and two trips to NAPA couldn't even help us. I'll give Scott this, though...he's finished every race he started, and we're happy for this because of our sponsors. Everyone at Meridian Speedway can look at the car, look at the sponsors and know that we're doing our best. Our sponsors know that we're out there every race busting butt. We haven't been able to say that in years past (the finishing each main, that is). It seems like all we've been doing is racing. The schedule has been really tough this year with a race almost every weekend so far, and the car's starting to show it. I'm confident that with a month until our next race we can get things back in to tip-top-shape. :-) You can check out our current point standings by clicking here.

Ever got in your car, pushed on the clutch pedal and had it go clear to the floor? Unfortunately we lost a clip on the clutch linkage, the pit crew (me) was dropping the ball and ours did just that - went clear to the floor. We missed our heat race, and those points, getting everything put back together. Unfortunately after we got bumped the toe was way off and the car didn't handle very well. We got 9th in the main. *yawn* I will give Scott this, though....He's driving better and better every race. This last race on 5/31 should've been a smash-up derby for good ol' #56, but he managed to get by multiple accidents and finish. The marketing whore is proud. :-)

First of all I want to thank Scott Durbin's pit crew for their help on 5/18. Without their help we probably wouldn't have finished the heat race that day. When I see people pitching in like that, it makes me feel good to be involved in the class we're in. Overall they are all a bunch of professionals.

I hate it when I get behind on my web duties. So here's the skinny, in short, for the last couple of weeks/races:

On 5/18 we didn't do worth a ... This being a family site let's just say it wasn't a good night for us. Got spun-out twice by the same guy in both our heat and the main. The first time he sliced the sidewall on one of our brand-spankin' new tires. Sucks. The thing is that we finished both races, even with the flat and the spin-out that bent the crap out of the front end.

On 5/25 we got a 1st in our heat and a 3rd in the Main. Not too shabby. We had some loose front-end parts that we hadn't noticed until Scott was doing the time-in, so we timed-in crappy once again. Once everything was tightened up everything seems to be a-ok. Oh, then there was the bumper almost falling off because of the spin-out in front of us that Scott couldn't avoid. Still we did pretty good.

Unfortunatley if we don't start timing in better some of the jerkies at the track are gonna start throwing around the sand-bagging stuff. You know what? If you think we're sandbagging I've got a left buttock you can kiss.

The results page is current now if you're curious at all where we stand (at this point 7th). We've got a race on Friday if we can make it. Unfortunately racing isn't paying nearly enough to pay the bills so we all have day jobs (of course). I'm hoping we can make it.

I'm really proud of our team and how we're doing. We're getting better every year and Scott's just flat out getting better as a driver. All that added to the fact that we're learning more and more about where the car should be setup...life is good.

Hold on to your kimono cupcake! After the second slowest time out of all the cars in our class May 4th, we took first in the B heat race (we were actually second with Bob Cecil winning, but he was loose the last lap so we're guessing the officials penalized him) and second in the main! By far our best showing ever! After our time-in (and no, we weren't sandbagging it), we realized the transmission was way low on fluid and the clutch was slippin' bad. With a little tightening here and there, with some spit for good measure, we did much better. We'll be replacing the clutch plate before our race on May 18th. We held off Dale "The Old Man" Bell up to about lap 30 before he took the lead away from us. Yes! We actually led for most of the race! So here's the skinny from May 4th. I realize that everybody's been holding their breath waiting to see how well we did last Saturday (4/20/02). For fear of somebody passing out, and myself getting blamed for a trip to the hospital, here's the skinny on our first race for 2002!

We ended up having a helluva time with freeze plugs. Ya, ya, kind of messed up, but that's what happened. We blew a freeze plug during our time-in so had to race scratch in the Main (no passing points...no nothin'). However, we got 3rd in our heat race and ended up taking 11th (we didn't finish cuz we blew another plug) in the main. Right now we're tied for 10th place in our division. Hey, it's better than 11th! Today was Meridian Speedway's "Media Day", but we didn't make it. With our now bright orange and red color of the car (new pictures to be up soon!), we were called to service by our country to serve as a beacon to help guide the shuttle down to a safe landing since Cape Canaveral was all fogged in. *sigh* Sometimes you have to make a sacrifice for the greater good! The car's ready to go though for the first race on the 20th!

Hmm. Slacking on the updates here... The engine is done and in the car. This Friday we're going to be having a "body party" where we attempt to remove all the, um, bruises left on the car from last year. Saturday will be a "painting party". The rebuilt heads came out awesome. We're really excited to see how the car does this year. Let's hope we don't leap off the track. :-)

So in other words, we're on-schedule for April 13th. Keep your fingers crossed.
